ANION is a powerful quartet from the Canadian left-coast city of Vancouver. Their name describes a net negatively charged ion and aptly describes the energy of their music. A slurry of disgust and filth, caked thick and drying against the metal walls that seek to contain them.
No List Records is proud to have ANION work with us on releasing their very first full-length LP, as recorded by Matt Bayles (who recorded KEN mode’s Entrench only days before these sessions) at his Seattle workshop, the Red Room Studios.
It will be released September 17th, 2013.
The gatefold vinyl treatment is fitting for the intricate photos that grace the cover, courtesy of photographer and bassist, Cole Benoit. His background vocals are the perfect condiment to vocalist Johnny Matter’s bark and guitarist Steve Sepanczyk’s bite.
This is true grit noise metal…a perfect compliment to our label and a natural successor to the music we love, we are honoured to be a part of this upcoming release.
Stay tuned here for tracklisting and artwork (July 24th).
Parathion Cocktail is featured as a preview track here and on their bandcamp.
A video for Snake Oil will be out mid August.
In the meantime, head over to their bandcamp and school yourself on this most-vicious of ensembles, invading the United States for live touring this fall. A free download of their latest 3-track ep, Manolete is available now, featuring a cover of KITTENS “Great Dane” and the original recording of Torero, rerecorded for “Without Solace”.
